I have just completed a wonderful 20 Hour Restorative Yoga Immersion course with Kim Sheridan and plan to attend her Part 2 in the New Year.
What is Restorative? Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. ... During the long holds of restorative yoga, muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body.
While I am familiar with the poses and props, I did learn about the importance of timing, fluid sequencing, themes and sound healing.
One may struggle with the slower pace and the stillness, but later the body is grateful and offers a wonderful feeling of peace, relaxation and quiet.
